Polymer granules are melted and pushed into the print head by a screw, similar to injection moulding.

The print head produces individual droplets are used to make the print, rather than a continuous stream of plastic.

Printing then works similarly to FDM, moving the platform in the xyz directions to control material placement.

Support structures are needed again and, therefore, post processing involves removal of support structures and smoothing edges.
